Tempozan
Tempozan is a man-made hill that once exceeded 20 meters in height but now stands at just 4.5 meters. The surrounding area features many popular sightseeing spots, including Tempozan Park, the Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel, and Kaiyukan Aquarium. Once known as the lowest mountain in Japan, a 2014 survey by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan revealed it to be the second-lowest mountain in the country. During the Edo period, major construction work was carried out to prevent flooding and allow large ships to enter Osaka more easily, and Tempozan was created during this project and became a new landmark. The name Tempozan comes from the era name used at the time. At the summit, a triangulation point marks it officially as a mountain. From the small observation area, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Tempozan area and experience the feeling of climbing a mountain. At the foot of Tempozan is the Tempozan Shopping Street, where certain shops issue a "Tempozan Climbing Certificate."
