Semba Center Building
Semba Center Building has a long history as part of Osaka’s traditional wholesale district, once known as the “kitchen of the nation.” It is located roughly in the center of Osaka City and has excellent access: Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line/Chuo Line Sakaisuji-Hommachi Station and Osaka Metro Midosuji Line/Chuo Line/Yotsubashi Line Hommachi Station are directly connected to the building. It is also close to the Hanshin Expressway loop line exits (Hommachi Exit or Shinanobashi Exit). A parking facility with space for about 450 cars is available, making it easy to visit by car as well. The building stretches for about 1 km from east to west, and inside are around 1,000 wholesale shops. Semba Center Building is especially known for textiles, but you can also find bargain imported goods and daily necessities—so many shops that even spending an entire day walking around may not feel like enough. There is also a “gourmet street” lined with restaurants, letting you enjoy Osaka specialties and international cuisine without even leaving the building. It has attracted attention not only from Japan but from around the world as a base for fashion information. In addition, an annual winter illumination event is held at the end of the year, and photo spots for social media are set up.
