Naritasan Myooin Osaka Annex

Naritasan Osaka Betsuin Myooin is the only branch temple in Kansai affiliated with Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, the head temple located in Narita City, Chiba Prefecture. Because it enshrines Fudo Myoo as its principal image, it is also called "Naritasan Fudoson." Naritasan Osaka Betsuin Myooin was established in 1934 in the Kori area after receiving a large land donation from Keihan Electric Railway Co., Ltd. Historically, development in Kori had been avoided because it was considered the kimon (unlucky northeast direction) for Osaka, but the site was selected by analogy with Mount Hiei and Enryaku-ji Temple protecting Kyoto’s kimon. By enshrining Naritasan’s Fudo Myoo, the temple also came to pray for Kori’s development and peace. The temple performs a wide range of prayers, including for household safety, business prosperity, and safe childbirth, but it is especially known as "Naritasan for traffic safety prayers." It became familiar by establishing a dedicated prayer hall to pray for traffic safety by treating people and cars as a single unit—said to be the first of its kind in Japan. The nearest station is Korien Station on the Keihan Main Line. It is a 15-minute walk, or if you take a bus, get off at the Keihan Bus stop "Naritasan Fudoson-mae," which is right nearby.
