Abeno Harukas
Abeno Harukas is a super-tall mixed-use skyscraper that opened in 2014 as a new landmark of Osaka. Standing approximately 300 meters tall, the building houses a department store, offices, a hotel, a museum, and an observation deck. Completed at a total cost of about 130 billion yen, it received the Good Design Award in 2017. The name "Abeno Harukas" is derived from an ancient Japanese word meaning "to brighten" or "to clear," found in a passage of The Tales of Ise. The building’s logo, composed of three combined squares, represents a "three-dimensional city" and uses traditional Japanese colors: akane red and sumi black, symbolizing the glow of the morning sun and sunset reflecting off the tower.
