Osaka Science Museum

Osaka Science Museum is a hands-on science museum in Nakanoshima, Kita Ward, themed around "Space and Energy.". Opened in 1989 with a donation from Kansai Electric Power, the museum features over 200 interactive exhibits, science shows, and a planetarium with a 26.5-meter dome. Highlights include a life-size replica of Gakutensoku, considered Japan’s first robot, and historical scientific instruments. The museum is popular with visitors of all ages.

  • Inside the facility, there is an “Oyako de Kagaku” (Science with Parents and Kids) floor for lower elementary school children and their guardians, where they can do experiments using balls, mirrors, and sound. Since explanations are provided, parents can also help explain to their children. In the Science Show corner, experiment shows are held, and the extra experiment shows by volunteer staff are especially worth seeing. There is also a shop selling science books and goods, as well as a café.
