Genkionsen Banpaku Oyuba
Genki Onsen Banpaku Oyuba is a large public bathhouse (super sentō) next to Expo ’70 Commemorative Park, which occupies the former site of the 1970 Osaka Expo. It opened in 2004 and was reopened after renovations in 2008. At Genki Onsen Banpaku Oyuba, sodium chloride hot-spring water is pumped up and used from within the premises. Sodium chloride springs are said to keep the body warm for a long time and help prevent you from getting chilled afterward. They are also believed to have moisturizing effects that are good for the skin, and antibacterial effects that may help with minor cuts. The facility also has a high-concentration carbonated bath, which is said to be beneficial for skin conditions and sensitivity to cold. Another highlight is the spacious open-air bath that offers a great sense of openness. Expo ’70 Commemorative Park is home to attractions such as the National Museum of Ethnology, where you can learn about world cultures through extensive exhibits; NIFREL, a new-style aquarium; and the Lalaport Expocity shopping mall—so stopping by after a day of sightseeing can be a nice idea.
