Basic information
The Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka was established by the city of Osaka to commemorate the donation of Chinese and Korean ceramics from the world-famous "Ataka Collection" by the Sumitomo Group, and opened in 1982. Since then, the museum has continued to receive donations of Korean ceramics from the "Lee Byung-Chang Collection," works by Hamada Shoji, and other Japanese ceramics, making it one of the world's most extensive and quality collections of Oriental ceramics. The museum's collection includes two National Treasures, the "Tobi Seiji Naike" (Celadon Vase) and the "Yutenmoku Tea Bowl," as well as 14 Important Cultural Properties.
