Senpukan

Senpukukan was built as a reception hall for the Japan Mint, which was founded in 1871. It is the oldest surviving Western-style building in Osaka, and was named "Senpukukan," meaning "House of Currency," when Emperor Meiji visited in 1872. The emperor also visited in 1877 and 1878, and the building has welcomed many important people from Japan and abroad, and was designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan in 1956.
