The stone walls of the original Osaka Castle have finally appeared!
The stone walls of the original Osaka Castle, built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, which lie beneath Osaka Castle, built by the Tokugawa Shogunate, are now open to the public.

The original Osaka Castle, built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi as a base for unifying Japan, is said to have been a magnificent and magnificent castle praised as "the unrivaled castle of the three kingdoms." However, after the Toyotomi side was defeated in the Summer Siege of Osaka in 1615 (Keicho 20), the Tokugawa Shogunate built Tokugawa Osaka Castle to cover up the original Toyotomi Osaka Castle, and it has remained buried underground ever since. In the spring of 2025 (Reiwa 7), the stone walls of Toyotomi Osaka Castle will finally be revealed to the public. In the Stone Wall Open House, visitors can reminisce about Toyotomi Osaka Castle, which fell in the Summer Siege of Osaka 400 years ago, in the exhibition hall and experience the charm of the rough stone walls.
The interior of the public facility consists of a stone wall exhibition hall (basement floor) where visitors can see the real stone walls and imagine Toyotomi Osaka Castle, and a guidance room (ground floor) that provides easy-to-understand explanations of Toyotomi stone walls.
