    Minase Shrine

    Hokusetsu History / culture

Minase Shrine was founded in 1240 (the first year of the Ninji era) when the retired Emperor Gotoba, who died in Oki during the Jokyu Incident, was enshrined at the site of his former villa, in accordance with an imperial decree. Minase Shrine is home to many cultural assets, including the Guest Hall, a nationally designated Important Cultural Property. The grounds of Minase Shrine are also home to the "Rikyu no Mizu," the only water in Osaka Prefecture selected as one of the Ministry of the Environment's 100 Famous Waters, making it a symbolic spot for Hommachi where the water is so clean and delicious.
