Raibuza Kyobashi Theater
Taishu Engeki Raibuza Kyobashi Theater is a large-scale popular-theater venue with 495 seats—one of the biggest in Japan—opened in November 2012 on the 5th floor of “KiKi Kyobashi.” Taishu engeki (popular theater) is a form of entertainment for general audiences, typically featuring period-drama plays (such as Chushingura or Kunisada Chuji) followed by a singing and dance show. KiKi Kyobashi is a five-story commercial complex that opened in November 2008; its 1st and 4th floors focus on food, while the 2nd and 3rd floors host shopping and service businesses. Raibuza is operated by Live Japan Co., Ltd., which runs four theaters in Kansai; this Kyobashi venue is the largest among them, hosting popular theater troupes on a monthly rotation. Performances change daily and are structured as: Part 1 “Meet-the-Cast Mini Dance Show,” Part 2 “Play,” and Part 3 “Dance Show.” There are two shows per day, split into a daytime and evening performance. For the opening run (kakiootoshi), the troupe “Za-KANSAI,” led by troupe leader Tsuyoshi Kanazawa, performed from November 3 to 29.
