Dotonbori River
Dotonbori River is a Class A river that connects the Higashiyokobori River and the Kizu River. It is about 2.7 km long, with a drainage area of about 4 km². The river’s width changes east and west around Daikoku Bridge near the center: about 50 m in the western Dotonbori section and about 30 m in the eastern section. As the iconic river of southern Osaka, it offers classic Osaka scenery—especially the neon reflections around Ebisu Bridge, and famous sights such as the Glico sign. It is right near Namba Station, and many tourists enjoy sightseeing and shopping around the river. The water is not particularly clean, but views from places like Don Quijote’s ferris wheel are especially impressive at night. There are also cruise boats operating on the river; for a ~20-minute mini cruise, the fare is 1,000 yen (tax included) for adults (junior high and above) and 400 yen for children (elementary). The boarding point is Taizaemon-bashi Pier.
