The National Museum of Art, Osaka is a contemporary art museum located in Nakanoshima and operated by the National Museums of Art. It primarily collects postwar and contemporary art, with select prewar masterpieces by artists such as Cézanne and Picasso. Originally opened in 1977 and renovated in 2004, the museum features a distinctive bamboo-inspired design by architect César Pelli. Exhibition galleries are located underground, along with a restaurant and museum shop.

To access the National Museum of Art, Osaka, it’s a 5-minute walk from “Watanabebashi” Station on the Keihan Nakanoshima Line. From Osaka Station, take the Yotsubashi Line from “Nishi-Umeda” Station and get off at “Higobashi” Station. Cross Higobashi Bridge and walk along the Tosabori River for about 4 minutes to reach the museum. The admission fee is 420 yen, and 130 yen for university students. Those under 18, those 65 and over, and people with disabilities plus one accompanying person are free. Nearby is the Osaka Science Museum, where you can enjoy a planetarium and science shows.
