Nishinakajima-Minamikata

Nishinakajima-Minamigata is the name of a station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line, located in Yodogawa Ward. The area around the station features many hotels, cafes, and restaurants, as well as attractions such as Yodogawa Riverside Park and the Osaka City Waterworks Memorial Museum. With access to JR lines, private railways, subways, and nearby Shin-Osaka Station, the area has developed as a major transportation hub with many offices and residences. In ancient times, the area was part of the sea, but sediment carried by rivers gradually formed land. During the Edo period, farmers constructed the Nakajima drainage canal to protect fertile farmland from flooding.

  • Nishinakajima-Minamigata is also known as a fiercely competitive ramen area, where you can enjoy many types such as tsukemen, tonkotsu ramen, and shio ramen. Staying at a hotel near Nishinakajima-Minamigata Station and doing a ramen crawl is also an option. If you walk 13 minutes from the station, you’ll reach the Osaka City Waterworks Museum, where you can learn about the history and mechanisms of water supply in a fun way. After the learning-facility renewal in 2017, the museum is open to the public not only during spring and summer vacations, but also on weekends and holidays.
