IKOMA Building

The Ikoma Building was constructed in 1930 and is a historic landmark that was designated a "Registered Tangible Cultural Property" in 1997. Because it incorporates Art Deco—an architectural style that became popular in the early 20th century—throughout its design, it was long admired as one of the most "modern" buildings of its era. Today, it is home to the building’s owner, Ikoma Watch Shop, as well as Kitahama T4B, which operates the Ikoma Building as rental offices and rentable meeting rooms. The Ikoma Building is also rented out for photography and filming, making use of distinctive original interiors such as the period lighting fixtures and marble staircases preserved from the time of its construction. Even if you only view it from outside, there are plenty of highlights. A clock tower stands on the rooftop, and seven stone eagle statues are placed above the entrance and display windows. The glass bricks at the east and north entrances are also a rare sight today. Access to the Ikoma Building is extremely convenient: it is right by Exit 6 of Kitahama Station on the Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line, or right by Exit 11 of Yodoyabashi Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line.

    A nice building

It is interesting for a number of reasons. Visitors are not allowed to wander through it, but a short stop is worthwhile
