This exhibition features approximately 100 paintings by Kokuta Suda, including abstract and figurative works, primarily from the Osaka Prefecture 20th Century Art Collection and valuable private collections, created after he moved to the Kansai region. It offers a comprehensive overview of the artistic career of Kokuta Suda, who continued to paint using a variety of techniques and styles.
Kokuta called the materialization of the spirit "sculpting," and he continued to pursue it, taking the activity of life, which is constantly in motion without ceasing for even a moment, and capturing it in a single, static form.
Please explore the form of "sculpture" that Kokuta dedicated his life to, using his works and the numerous theories on sculpture he left behind as clues.

A lecture by artist Katsushige Nakahashi, who considers himself a huge fan of Kokuta. He will explore Kokuta's artistic vision from an artist's perspective.

② Nana Kuromiya Workshop: "Learning Skin-Shaping Techniques from Kokuta"

This workshop is led by artist Nana Kuromiya, who creates works using various materials, such as oil paintings with beeswax and washi paper works with dyes. Participants will carefully observe the paintings of Kokuta Suda, who has challenged himself to create completely different expressions using oil paint and gouache, and then try their hand at creating works by creating not only colors and shapes, but also various surface textures of the painting—"painting surface texture."
