Free your spirit
and experience the true cool of
a Shinshu summer.

As you leave the bustle of the city behind and journey north,  you’ll notice how the wind against your skin takes on a different quality.
You will notice a change in the texture of the wind touching your skin.

The high mountains of Nagano prefecture have earned it the moniker “the Roof of Japan.
” Here you’ll find brisk mountain air and green landscapes teeming with life.

What we as humans need now is to trek the mountains on our own two feet,
experience crystal-clear waters, break through the wind, and gaze at starry night skies.

These experiences will awaken senses that lie dormant.
Trekking, camping, and cycling.

Shinshu summers offer activities that let you be one with nature.
Experience true cool this summer in a place a little closer to the heavens.

Every step is its own reward in the summer mountains of Shinshu.

From hikes around mystical forest wetlands to serious climbs along the exposed rock face up to the summit, each trail possesses its own drama.  Cool winds against your cheeks, a sea of clouds rolling beneath steep cliffs, and the sense of accomplishment only those who reach the summit can experience.  Awaiting you at the end of your journey is a world of beauty that is simply serene.

Take a deep breath and clear your mind as an invigorating freshness that fills you with renewed energy for tomorrow surrounds you.

Cycling in the cool summer breeze through Nagano,
the Roof of Japan

Summer cycling in Nagano prefecture is the ultimate adventure that lets you experience the magnificent scenery of the Japanese Alps
and the highlands as well the refreshingly cool breeze with all of your senses.

Even with Nagano’s many hills, using an e-bike (electric-assist bicycle) lets beginners and those less confident in their stamina ride with ease as if they were on flat ground, maximizing the fun of your journey.
Options range from historic routes around post towns of the Nakasendo and Hokkoku Kaido highways to flat circuits around Lake Suwa and a rigorous mountain route for Norikura hill climbing. Savoring the rich history and cuisine of the region then soaking away any fatigue in the hot springs after your ride is the true magic of Nagano cycling.

Just passing through, you might miss the small historic sites along the road and the refreshing scent of the breeze. This is the Shinshu you can discover only by bicycle.
