Visiting ancient heritage sites

Emperor Ojin's Tomb

The Furuichi area is an area with many historical spots where the Takeuchi Kaido and Koyakaido intersect. You can fully enjoy ancient tombs and history, including the Emperor Ojin Tomb, the second largest tomb in Nagano Prefecture, a temple associated with Sugawara no Michizane, and the saddle hardware excavated from the Konda Maruyama Tomb, a national treasure. Spring is the best time to visit, as the cherry blossoms and plum blossoms are beautiful.

    Domyoji

    This nunnery was built by the Haji clan, ancestors of Sugawara no Michizane, and is said to have been visited by Michizane himself. It is also famous as the birthplace of "Domyoji hoshii" and "Domyoji flour," ingredients used in Kansai-style sakura mochi. The eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva statue, a national treasure, is open to the public on the 18th and 25th of every month.

  3. Emperor Ojin's Tomb

    It boasts the second longest burial mound after the Emperor Nintoku Tomb, and is said to have the largest volume of any burial mound in Japan. By following the path, you can get a glimpse of its size and beauty.

  4. Konda Hachimangu Shrine

    The shrine enshrines Emperor Ojin as its main deity, and is a historical spot with ties to the Genji clan. National treasures such as saddle hardware are on display in the treasure museum.

  5. Habikino City Cultural Assets Exhibition Room

    House-shaped haniwa and crown-shaped haniwa excavated from the Furuichi area, as well as the luxurious grave goods from the Minegazuka Tomb, are on display, allowing you to experience the romance of ancient times up close.

  6. MAISON INCO

    This ancient tomb of mysterious beauty is connected to the legend of Yamato Takeru no Mikoto's swan. It is located along the Takeuchi Kaido, a Japan Heritage Site.

  8. Suichoen Ruins Park

    The park is themed around the lives of people in the Paleolithic period and how stone tools were made, and is marked by a large, sliced egg-shaped monument.

A sample itinerary for touring Osaka by car

You will experience the history of manufacturing in the Kita-Nakagawachi area, and enjoy a harvesting experience and organic farm cuisine for lunch. One of the pleasures of visiting Ishikiri Tsurugiya Shrine, where many people come to pray for protection from cancer, is to stroll along the approach to the shrine.
