Umeda Arts Theater Main Hall
A three-minute walk from the Chayamachi Exit of Osaka-umeda Station of the Hankyu Railway. The Main Hall of the Umeda Arts Theater presents various performances, centered on Takarazuka revues, but also musicals, classical music, opera, ballet, etc. This theater used to be the well-established Umeda Koma Theater, opened in 1956. In 1992, the theater was renewed at the current location as Theater Hiten, and then returned to the name Umeda Koma Theater. However, it reopened in 2005, and it is now called Umeda Arts Theater Main Hall. The hall with 1,905 seats has optimum reverberation time and reception level for theater programs and classical music performance, and was designed so that clarity of musical resonance is ensured, as well as to allow the sounds from the stage to seem as close-by as possible. It also continues to present the quality theater and concert programs that the Umeda Koma Theater helped cultivate.
