Emperor Ojin is also seen as the patron deity of commerce and industry, and the parent deity of scholarship and the arts. The shrine buildings were restored by Minamoto no Yoritomo in 1196. The Chirijiraden Kondo Soshinyo portable shrine, donated at that time, has been designated a National Treasure. An autumn festival is held every year on September 15th, and the "Owatari" procession, in which the portable shrine is carried to the bank of the Emperor Ojin Tomb, is still practiced today.
