    Nozaki visit

    Nozaki Mairi, held every year from May 1st to 8th, is an event that has been held for over 300 years since the Edo (Genroku) period, and is properly called Muenkyo Hoyo. In the past, it was a major tourist event, with many people travelling by boat from Osaka city to visit Nozaki Kannon Jigenji Temple. In the Kamigata Rakugo story "Nozaki Mairi," the introduction introduces the three Kansai Mairi, "Okera Mairi" in Gion, Kyoto, "Konpira Mairi" in Sanuki, and "Nozaki Mairi" in Osaka.

    Nozaki Kannon Jigenji is a Soto Zen temple located in Daito City, Osaka Prefecture. After receiving a lecture on how to write and how to prepare yourself, you will spend time copying sutras, completing each point and line, and even if you make a mistake, resetting and moving forward. Finally, you will write down what you want to let go of on a piece of paper and offer it as an offering, and receive a scattered flower-shaped goshuin stamp.

    National Historic Site: Imori Castle Ruins

    Built near the summit of a mountain at an elevation of approximately 314m, this Sengoku period mountain castle is one of the largest in western Japan, measuring 400m east to west and 700m north to south. It was the residence of Miyoshi Nagayoshi, a Sengoku period warlord who has been gaining attention in recent years, and who is said to have been "the man who ruled Japan before Oda Nobunaga." It is said that during Nagayoshi's time in the castle, it was the political capital of the Miyoshi government, and the stone walls from that time still remain.

    Ishikiri Tsurugiya Shrine

    Opening up the hope of recovery from illness
    This ancient shrine has long been worshipped as the "God of Denbo" and is affectionately known as "Ishikiri-san." In 2025, four parts of the shrine, including the main hall, were registered as national tangible cultural properties (buildings).

    Ishikiri Sando Shopping Street

    A retro-style shopping street on the approach to Ishikiri Tsurugi Shrine. The Republic of Nauru Pavilion, which was exhibited at the Osaka Kansai Expo, has opened across from Ishikiri Tsukemono Yokocho.

    Onji Shrine

    Onji Shrine enshrines a rabbit (which leads to good relationships) and a dragon (which leads to happiness). As these are the zodiac animals for 2022 and 2023, the shrine has been introduced in the media as a shrine that brings good fortune, and the number of visitors continues to grow.
    In addition, the Onchi Festival is held every year on August 1st, and is famous for the approximately 2-ton Futon Taiko drum being carried back and forth up the steep stone steps leading from the temple grounds. The temple is crowded with many spectators who come to see the impressive sight.

    The legendary railway tunnel, "Old Osaka Railway Kamese Tunnel," becomes a spectacular light show
    48 projectors have been installed inside the Phantom Tunnel, and powerful images and sounds are displayed with projection mapping related to Japan Heritage sites. There are two tours available: a "Long Tour (90 minutes)" and a "Short Tour (45 minutes)."

    Kuzuiji Temple

    It was founded as the family temple of the Kuzui clan, who came from Baekje.
    It is also known as the fifth temple of the Sansho Pilgrimage and the beauty of the wisteria within the temple grounds.

    The Thousand-Armed Kannon statue (National Treasure), the principal image enshrined in the main hall, will be unveiled to the public. It has 1,041 arms, literally meaning "a thousand hands" and "a thousand eyes," making it a masterpiece of Tenpyo sculpture.

    Fujiidera City Nigiwai Learning Exchange Center (Isel Shura Hall)

    The Municipal Nigiwai Learning Exchange Center, nicknamed "Isel Shura Hall," is a complex where people can learn, gather, and interact, and will also function as a tourist hub when it reopens in April 2025. The building's exterior is based on the motifs of the "Shura" and "boat-shaped haniwa" figures excavated in the city, and is designed to resemble a ship that inherits history and sets sail into the future.
