This is one of the ancient shrines of Senshu. It has many anecdotes, including the story of Ki no Tsurayuki, a poet from the Heian period, and the legend of the shrine's name, Aritsuchi, which is mentioned in "The Pillow Book." During World War II, the shrine was forced to relocate to its current location, one kilometer away, due to the construction of the Sano Branch of the Army Flying School. The main deities enshrined are Okuninushi no Mikoto and Aritsuchi Myojin. This shrine is associated with the Noh play "Arittsuchi," written by Zeami. In recent years, the shrine has hosted bonfire Noh performances in the dance hall, making it a shrine deeply connected to Noh theater. While the bonfire Noh performances were forced to be canceled in 2020 due to the impact of COVID-19, they have continued to be held since then.
