Bank of Japan Osaka Branch Old Building

This authentic Western-style building is made of brick and stone and has a beautiful patina-colored dome roof. You can also tour the interior.
This modern building faces the Tosabori River, the Dojima River, and Osaka's main street, Midosuji. Modeled after the National Bank of Belgium and other buildings, it's a two-story, authentic Western-style stone structure with a beautiful patinaed dome. It was designed by Tatsuno Kingo, who also designed Tokyo Station and the Central Public Hall. During the Edo period, the Shimabara Domain's storehouse was located here, and in the early Meiji period, it was the site of the villa of Godai Tomoatsu, a leader in the Kansai financial world. During the Showa period, plans were made to completely rebuild the building into a high-rise building to expand business space, but three exterior walls and important parts of the interior were preserved, and a new wing was constructed on the western side of the site. By reservation, you can tour the interior of the old building and the sales office of the new building.
