Hamadera Park Rose Garden

One of Osaka's oldest prefectural parks, the rose garden is home to 6,000 roses of approximately 500 varieties, including rare native Japanese species.
Hamadera Park, established in 1873, is one of Osaka's oldest prefectural parks. Its vast grounds are home to approximately 4,000 pine trees and have been selected as one of Japan's 100 most famous pine trees. The rose garden, covering approximately 2.7 hectares, was completed in 1991 as part of Osaka Prefecture's "Flowering Osaka Project." It features five zones, including "Lake and Waterway View," "Village View," and "Mountain View," designed like a Japanese strolling garden, as well as promenades and a "City View" reminiscent of European gardens. Approximately 6,000 roses of 500 varieties, including wild roses and Japanese roses, bloom from spring to early winter. The park is open annually from March to December. Admission is free. Guided tours of the roses are offered by the volunteer group "Rose Garden Guide Club" during the peak seasons of spring and autumn.
