Hinone Shrine

It is the main shrine of the Hineno, Kaminogo, and Nagataki areas, and is an ancient shrine whose name appears in the Engishiki and the National Shrine List.
This ancient shrine is the central shrine for the Hineno, Kaminogo, and Nagataki areas, and its name appears in the Engishiki and National Shrine Lists. Its main deities are Emperor Jimmu's father, Ugayafukiaezu-no-Mikoto, and his mother, Tamayorihime-no-Mikoto. It is one of the five shrines of Izumi Province (Otori, Izumianashi, Hijiri, Tsumikawa, and Hinene). During the Kamakura period, Hineno became a manor for the Kujo family, and development progressed with the construction of reservoirs and waterways. Hinene Shrine came to be known as "Oiseki Daimyojin." However, in 1576, the shrine buildings were completely destroyed by fire during Hideyoshi's attack on Negoro. The current shrine buildings were rebuilt by Hideyori in 1602 (Keicho 7) and are designated as a prefectural cultural property. The annual "Makura Festival" held in May is a unique event in which people carry a 5-meter bamboo pole with a colorful decorative pillow on its back and parade while singing the Gosha Ondo dance. The "Yu Festival" is held in July to give thanks for the blessings of water and to pray for a good harvest and good health, and the Gosha Ondo dance is dedicated to the people.
