Hiyoshi Shrine

The summer festival in July features a festival, procession, Kagura dance, and lion dance.
During the Bun'an era (1444-1448) of the Muromachi period, the large Tendai sect temple Sekisenji already stood on this site. Within its grounds was a shrine known as Sannogu, which enshrined a branch of the Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine in Otsu. Later, during the Summer Siege of Osaka, Sekisenji burned down in the fires, but the shrine survived and has been enshrined as the local guardian deity ever since. In 1889, the northern part of the temple grounds was requisitioned for construction work on the Yodo River, and the main hall was moved 200 meters south to its current location. The July summer festival features ceremonies, a procession, kagura dance, and lion dances.
