Jigen-in Temple


This is the oldest temple in Senshu, built at the request of Emperor Tenmu. The pagoda, built during the Kamakura period, is designated as a national treasure.
Founded in 673 by Kakugo Ajari as a temple at the request of Emperor Tenmu, this is the oldest temple in Senshu. In 1585, most of the mountain was destroyed by fire during war, but it was rebuilt in 1602 by Toyotomi Hideyori. Within the temple grounds, the Tahoto Pagoda, a national treasure built in the Kamakura period that survived the fire, and the Kondo Hall, an important cultural property, stand quietly and solemnly.
