This large tree is located within the premises of Kayashima Station on the Keihan Main Line. It is actually the giant camphor tree of Kayashima Shrine, which is located under the elevated tracks at Kayashima Station. The tree towers majestically, piercing through the platform. When the elevated tracks were constructed and the station was to be built above the shrine, the tree was left intact by incorporating it into the station platform at the enthusiastic request of local residents, and the shrine, worship hall, office, etc. were rebuilt with donations from many local parishioners. The tree has also been selected as one of Osaka Prefecture's 100 best green spaces.
