Kitahama Retro Building

Enjoy British-style afternoon tea in a building that is a registered tangible cultural property of Japan. From the windows, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Nakanoshima's rose garden.

With the Tosabori River and Nakanoshima Park behind it, Kitahama Retro Building stands opposite the Osaka Securities Exchange. Originally completed in 1912 as the headquarters of a securities brokerage, the building was influenced by the Glasgow School of England and is a registered tangible cultural property of Japan. Currently, the first floor houses a British-style cake and tea goods shop, while the second floor is a coffee shop with an antique British atmosphere that is popular among tea connoisseurs. British-made interior design is used throughout the store, including doorknobs and light switches. The afternoon tea set, which includes cakes, scones, sandwiches, and more, is a popular menu item. Approximately 40 varieties of tea are available, including teas from England, France, and India, and the cakes are handmade in-house daily. The windows of the second-floor cafe offer a panoramic view of Nakanoshima's rose garden, making it a recommended place to spend the afternoon.
