Kitahama Retro Building
Come and enjoy afternoon tea in a building that is a registered tangible cultural property of Japan. The rose garden of Nakanoshima can be seen from its windows.
Kitahama Retro Building stands opposite the Osaka Securities Exchange, with Tosabori River and Nakanoshima Park in the back. This building, originally constructed as a company building for a securities brokerage firm in the 45th year of the Meiji Era (1912), was designed with a Glasgow influence and is a registered tangible cultural property of Japan. Currently, the first floor is an English cake, tea and miscellaneous goods shop, and the second floor is a caf_ that is popular among tea-lovers, with an English antique atmosphere. English interior features appear in many details, such as the doorknobs and light switches. The popular menu of the caf_ is its afternoon tea set, with cakes, scones, sandwiches, etc. There are approximately 40 different teas from England, France, India, etc., and its cakes are baked fresh every day in the kitchen. The Nakanoshima rose garden can be viewed from the windows of the second-floor caf_ space; a perfect spot to spend a relaxing afternoon.
