The name "Migukurumitama" comes from the fact that it enshrines "Mikukurumitama," the god who controls water and distributes water from the mountains to the land. It was founded by Emperor Sujin and enshrines Okuninushi-no-Mikoto. A group of four ancient tombs is located on the mountain behind the main shrine, making it a sacred mountain. Stairs and a worship path lead to the main shrine, located halfway up the mountain. There are a lower worship hall and an upper worship hall, and worship can be accessed from either. The Ichinomiya worship path, which continues from the side of the lower worship hall, surrounds the main shrine and includes a remote worship site for the Ichinomiya shrines enshrined in each direction, along with the sacred sakaki tree. The Kusunoki clan worships Migukuramitama Shrine, known as Shimomikawasha, along with Kamimikawasha (Takemikawasha Shrine, located in Chihayaakasaka Village), as their clan deity, and has donated sacred land and constructed shrine buildings.
