Nakami Shrine

The shrine is located in the center of Izumisano City, near Kansai International Airport. It is said to have been built in the late Heian period, and the main hall is a brightly colored Sangensha Nagare-zukuri style (designated as a tangible cultural property of Osaka Prefecture). There are 40 wisteria trees of 20 different varieties planted within the grounds, and many people visit during the season in April.
The main deity of this shrine is Hachiman, and it also enshrines many other deities that were enshrined during the Meiji period. Subsidiary shrines include Omiya Inari Shrine, Keichi no Kami, and Hanashiro Fujinomiya. From mid- to late April, various varieties of wisteria, which are associated with the shrine's sacred crest, the Fuji Tomoe, bloom in competition with one another, attracting many worshippers. Other flowers such as hydrangeas and lotus flowers are also displayed within the grounds, allowing visitors to enjoy the changing atmosphere of the seasons. Popular items available for purchase include clay bells and netsuke charms with the design of "Joju Nasu," a water eggplant, a specialty of Senshu, as well as a variety of cute goshuin stamps.
