Fishing Park Embankment (Osaka South Port Fishing Park)

Osaka Prefecture's only sea fishing park, located on the breakwater at the western end of Minami Port's South Pier, aims to foster a sense of familiarity with the sea and the harbor. The 612-meter-long pier, 12.5-meter-wide (including the walkway), and approximately 300 square meters of area, can accommodate approximately 400 people. Fishing options include rockfish, rock porgy, and rock greenling in spring; horse mackerel, mackerel, sardines, Japanese anchovies, and black porgy in summer; horse mackerel, mackerel, sardines, rockfish, rockfish, and black porgy in autumn; and seigo, flatfish, rockfish, and rock greenling in winter. On Sundays and holidays, when the park is bustling with families, members of the Fishing Culture Association offer patrol fishing lessons. Every Saturday from 4:00 PM, top-class sea bass hunters with fishing instructor licenses roam the shore. Lure fishing classes are held for easy-to-hook fish like hairtail and sea bass. Participation is free.
