Osaka Club

It has been used as a club for Osaka's business leaders for over 100 years. It is one of Osaka's three most famous buildings and is a registered tangible cultural property.

Located a five-minute walk from Yodoyabashi Station on Osaka Metro Midosuji Line, the Osaka Club is considered one of Osaka's three most famous architectural landmarks, along with the Mengyo Kaikan and the Osaka Gas Building. Founded in 1912 as a members-only social club by Osaka business leaders, the current building was redesigned in 1924 by Takeo Yasui, the same architect who designed the Gas Building, after the previous building burned down. It features four floors above ground and one basement, incorporating Southern European elements with Eastern influences. The exterior is finished in a Southern European style, featuring eye-catching stone arches commonly seen in the architecture of the old Roman city. Oriental and Middle Eastern motifs can be seen in the arabesque borders and carvings, such as totem poles. The interior, including the doors, beams, and shelves, is all made of wood, with a uniform deep color scheme. It was designated a Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 1997. The interior is not open to the public.
