The Osaka Shinkabukiza Theater is the first new kabuki-za theater in a half-century, opened on the 6th floor of Uehommachi YUFURA (a brand-new shopping area built to commemorate the Kintetsu Railway’s 100th anniversary). It goes without saying that the theater hosts kabuki performances, but it’s also become a popular venue thanks to a performance schedule that changes monthly to include historical dramas, classic pop shows, zacho-koen music performances hosted by famous enka singers and stars, and more. Inside you’ll also find on-site dining, a bento-box shop where you can grab a bite during the intermission, and a branch of one of Osaka’s famous coffee shops. The shop in the lobby offers a range of Osakan items for sale.
