Saidera Temple

This is a historic temple founded by Gyoki.

The bell tower on the temple grounds is built in the early Edo period architectural style and is thought to have been built around the same time as the bell, making it the second oldest surviving modern bell tower in the prefecture. Furthermore, on the Day of the Ox in the Dog Days, a "cucumber ritual" is held at the Yakushido Hall on the temple grounds, where plague gods and evil spirits that cause illness are sealed in cucumbers in prayer for recovery, demonstrating a glimpse of Yakushi faith among the common people. Additionally, the "Sai no Shimizu" spring in front of the temple's main hall is a source of holy water that is said to have sprung forth as a result of the prayers of Gyoki. It is linked to the Yakushi Buddha faith at the Yakushido Hall and is worshipped for its effectiveness in curing illnesses, particularly eye diseases.
