This shopping street at Asahi-ku stretches for 700m between Senbayashi Station of the Keihan Line and Senbayashi-Omiya Station of the subway Tanimachi Line. When the 1st store of Daiei supermarket opened here, this shopping street was said to have the most reasonable prices in Japan. It still has the atmosphere of an old town, and the original theme song of the street is always played as background music. Having survived the war, today about 200 shops are connected as terrace houses selling fresh groceries, daily goods, etc. The public market and municipal market open together and are crowded with customers all day long.
