The Semba Building is a building that conveys the history of modern architecture in Semba, Osaka. It is a residential and office building with one basement floor, five floors above ground, and one penthouse. While the exterior has the design of a tiled office building, the interior has a distinctive design with a long, patio-style courtyard in the middle, an open atrium, and corridors surrounding it. When it was completed in 1925, it attracted attention as a very unique and innovative building. The long, patio-style courtyard was designed to be functional, making it easy to pull in trucks and wagons, in keeping with the local characteristics of Semba, which developed as a wholesale district.
