Sumiyoshi Shrine (also known as Wakamiya Sumiyoshi Shrine)

At the Autumn Festival, which is held every year on the weekend around October 10th, gakusha (sumo stalls), floats, and children's mikoshi (portable shrines) are paraded around the sumo ring.

Itsukushima Shrine, which was established by Taira no Kiyomori on the site of Sekirenji Temple, which Gyoki built during the Tenpyo era, is said to be the origin of the shrine. As the guardian deity of the Ozone hometown, it has attracted deep faith and worship. At the autumn festival, held every year on the weekend around October 10th, dances to ward off evil spirits are performed around the homes of the clan, and in the evening, a parade of gakusha, floats, and children's mikoshi (portable shrines) takes place in the sumo ring. The Tori no Shishimai (lion dance) is a must-see.
