Takihata Hometown Cultural Heritage Forest Center

A dam was built in the Takihata district in 1981, and the area was submerged by the dam. The Kawachinagano City Takihata Folk Museum preserves and exhibits many cultural assets, including folklore, arts and crafts, and traditional Japanese architecture. The homes in the Takihata district are characterized by their "tsumairiyokowarigata" (side-split) floor plan, which is not seen anywhere else in the prefecture. The interiors of these homes, including the bath and hearth, are open to the public as part of a traditional Japanese building on the premises. Other attractions include an exhibition room with an iron kettle designated as a tangible cultural property by Kawachinagano City, and a Fujikikuyohi (a memorial stone for those who have not eaten) monument, which was erected over a period of approximately 130 years from the Meireki to Kansei eras, preserved next to the exhibition room.
