Traffic Amusement Park in Osaka Prefectural Hamadera Park
A D51-type steam locomotive and No. 130 train of Hankai Tramway, which are greatly coveted by train-spotters, are right in front of you. Go-cart riding and a children's train are also very popular.
The Traffic Amusement Park, located in Hamadera Park, was built in 1873 and is well known for its beautiful pine trees and rose garden. On display in the park is the Hankai Tramway #130 (Mo-121 type), a nostalgic favorite among train aficionados, and a freight-hauling D51 steam locomotive, known affectionately as the Degoichi. There are also a number of popular children's rides in the park, from a 760-meter long go-cart highway course, complete with slopes and curves (4 years old or older; ¥300), to battery cars (¥100 per ride). Since the park is a distance from Hamadera Park's main gate, it's fun to ride the children's steam train (adults ¥300, children ¥150) there from Rose Garden Station, located near the rose garden. Although the trip to Traffic Amusement Park Station is brief at only about 1,500 meters, the stations and railroad are both authentic in appearance and the ride through the greenery is peaceful.
