Tsuboi-dera Temple

This is a Yuzunenbutsu sect temple that enshrines a unique legendary bodhisattva who is said to confront thunder, and the principal image is Amida Buddha.
This Yuzunenbutsu temple is the seventh temple on the Kawachi Saigoku Pilgrimage. It was originally rebuilt on the site of a Heian-period temple called Hozenji. The current main hall was relocated in 1888 from the abandoned Eikoji (formerly Funinji) temple, and its principal image is Amida Buddha. The bronze standing Bodhisattva statue enshrined in the main hall is small, standing at 19.9 cm tall, but it is a graceful and well-proportioned statue from the Hakuho period. It is believed to have originally been a gilt-bronze Buddha and is now a designated cultural property of Osaka Prefecture. It is also known as the "Lightning-Proof Kannon." It is said that in the past, lightning frequently struck the area, causing great damage. The Kannon heard the prayers of those affected and confronted the lightning, and lightning has never struck the area again since.
