Tsuboi Hachiman Shrine

Tsuboi Hachiman Shrine, located at the southern end of Habikino City, is the guardian deity of the Kawachi Genji clan, and enshrines Minamoto no Yorinobu, Yoriyoshi, Yoshiie, and others, ancestors of Minamoto no Yoritomo, who later founded the Kamakura shogunate.
Tsuboi Hachiman Shrine, located at the southern end of Habikino City, is the guardian deity of the Kawachi Genji clan, enshrined in the place where Minamoto no Yorinobu, the ancestor of Minamoto no Yoritomo, who later founded the Kamakura shogunate, Ashikaga Takauji, who founded the Muromachi shogunate, and Tokugawa Ieyasu, who founded the Edo shogunate, had his base.
It is said that the shrine was founded in 1064, when Minamoto no Yoriyoshi (son of Minamoto no Yorinobu, founder of the Kawachi Genji clan) prayed for victory in the Battle of Zenninen (1490-1503), and enshrined the spirit of Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine in Kyoto, to the east of his private residence in Tsuboi. The Hachimangu Shrine is home to the Kurokawa Odoshi Domaru (Black Leather Armor Domaru, an Important Cultural Property of Japan), a suit of armor said to have been favored by Yoriyoshi's son, Hachiman Taro Yoshiie, as well as the Sogyo Hachiman Shinzo (Statue of the Monk-Shaped Hachiman God, an Important Cultural Property of Japan), Tenkomaru's sword (Tenkomaru's Sword, an Important Art Property of Japan), and the Genji White Flag. Within the shrine grounds, a camphor tree said to be 1,000 years old stretches its branches gracefully. Additionally, to the west of Hachiman Shrine is Tsuboi Gongen Shrine, where Yoshiie's sixth son, Minamoto no Yoshitoki, enshrined the spirits of Yorinobu, Yoriyoshi, and Yoshiie in 1109.
Tsuboi and the area around Tsuhoji Temple, about 300 meters away, are places where you can get a glimpse of the area being the base of the Kawachi Genji clan.
