The shrine has a total grounds of 6,600m2, and although the founding date is unknown, it can be said to be a very ancient shrine, as ancient texts such as the Montoku Jitsuroku record that in 854 (the first year of the Saihō era), "the deity Daithunder and Fire God of Kawauchi Province was awarded the rank of Junior Fifth Rank." Long ago, when the crops in the surrounding area were on the verge of almost dying, people recited the Great Perfection of Wisdom Sutra (an important cultural property of Higashiosaka City) in front of the altar, and on the 14th day, pure water gushed forth from the pool behind the shrine, saving the situation. It is said to grant blessings of "wisdom," "health," and "easy childbirth," and many visitors come from far and wide.
