Yodogawa Shrine

The summer festival held in July is said to be a summer tradition in Miyakojima Ward.
The exact date of its founding is unknown. The shrine enshrines 15 deities, including Amaterasu Omikami and Hachiman Daimyojin, and enshrines famous gods from all over Japan. One of its parishioners is Yosa Buson, famous for his haiku. He was familiar with shrine festivals from a young age, and festivals were his greatest joy. It is believed that his sensitivity was sharpened in this environment. The summer festival, held in July, is said to be a summer tradition in Miyakojima Ward. There is a procession of children playing flutes, striking gongs, and beating drums, as well as a parade of danjiri floats and other fun-loving activities.
