This festival celebrates and gives thanks for the bountiful autumn harvest, which is considered a blessing from Takemizu-no-Okami. The divine spirit is transferred to a portable shrine and carried in a procession to the temporary shrine (commonly known as Hienomae), located about 1 km down from the main shrine.
Nearly 20 danjiri (festival floats) from each of the parish districts of the three municipalities (Tondabayashi City, Kanan Town, and Chihayaakasaka Village) enter the shrine grounds, and the sight of all the danjiri gathered around the portable shrine is said to be the finest in Kawachi. Afterwards, a ceremony is held in front of the portable shrine, and then the youth groups from each district perform "Kawachi Niwaka" (improvised skits), which are said to be the origin of Kamigata performing arts, from the stages of the danjiri.
Furthermore, the festival float is pulled around for a total of three days, including the days before and after the procession into the shrine grounds. Since the autumn festivals of nearby shrines such as Migukuru Mitama Shrine (Tondabayashi City) and Isuka Shrine (Kanan Town) are held on the same days as our shrine, the entire area is enveloped in the atmosphere of autumn festivals, along with the scent of harvested rice stalks.
