Daihonzan Eiheiji Temple
One of the two head temples of the Soto Sect of Zen Buddhism along with Sojiji Temple, Eiheiji was established in 1244 as a zazen practice hall by Zen master Dogen.
The vast premises of about 330,000 square meters are dotted with over 70 buildings, including the 7 that make up the Shichidogaran, important halls for the practice of Zen.
