Kushiro Red-Crowned Crane Reserve

The Kushiro Red-Crowned Crane Reserve is dedicated to the protection and breeding of the red-crowned crane, once thought to have been extinct.
Here, visitors can observe these majestic birds up close all year round.
Red-crowned cranes are known for staying with the same partner for life, making them a symbol of marital harmony. From late January to early March, male and female cranes spreading their wings in a mesmerizing courtship dance may be witnessed.

Kushiro Washo Ichiba Market

One of Hokkaido’s three major markets, the Kushiro Washo Ichiba Market is a popular spot where visitors can create their own custom seafood bowl with the fresh catch from Kushiro Port.
Enjoy the excitement of choosing from a variety of toppings! Ikura salmon roe, uni sea urchin, salmon, cod roe, surf clam, scallop, squid, and botan shrimp await to be enjoyed together with rice.
Each topping is labeled with price, so the selection of favorites can be made enjoyably and worry-free.

Kushiro Sunset Cruise
SEA CRANE

Kushiro sunset -- as one of The Three Major Sunsets of the World -- is a breathtaking sight of the entire sky and the sea turning deep red. The sunset cruise lets the guests admire this stunning view while being gently swayed by the sailing boat.
At times, massive cargo ship or white-tailed eagle, a nationally designated natural monument, might even be encountered. The cruise departs one hour before sunset. Same-day bookings are available.

30 seconds on foot

Ganpeki Robata

For an even more enjoyable experience of Kushiro Port, the Ganpeki Robata is a must-visit! They offer freshly grilled seasonal seafood under a tent set up along the wharf.
The obvious selection includes Atka mackerel, scallop, oyster, as well as some more unusual species, such as the locally caught Kushiro mackerel and menme rockfish.
Savor the delicious local cuisine, gazing at Kushiro Port, and toasting with the local Sunset Highball!
