Ako Marine Science Museum and Shio-no-Kuni
A complex that lets you learn about the culture of salt-making in Ako. Located in Hyogo Prefectural Ako Seaside Park, this facility combines a science museum devoted to the sea and salt with Shio-no-Kuni, an outdoor area featuring recreated salt fields from the medieval to modern eras, where you can try your hand at traditional salt making.

Ako Castle Ruins and Ako Oishi Shrine
A must-see for history lovers, this spot takes you through the castle ruins of the Asano clan, lords of the Ako domain, and to Oishi Shrine, which stands on the former estate of Oishi Kuranosuke within the castle grounds. Ako Oishi Shrine enshrines Oishi Kuranosuke along with the 47 ronin (loyal retainers) of Ako and is famous for its blessings regarding the achievement of great aspirations and fulfillment of wishes.
