ASUMUI Spiritual Hikes
In December 2024, Daisekirinzan, a rocky mountain trekking course located at the northernmost tip of Okinawa’s main island, reopened under the new name ASUMUI Spiritual Hikes.
While listening to an audio guide, visitors can explore the sacred site of Asumui, said to be the first place created by Amamiku, a deity of Ryukyuan mythology. It is also the northernmost location in the world where tropical karst terrain can be seen, and the sight of subtropical plants taking root in the limestone is not to be missed!

Cape Hedo
Cape Hedo is located at the northernmost tip of Okinawa’s main island. It is a popular spot known for its powerful scenery, where rough waves from offshore crash violently against the cliffs at the meeting of the Pacific Ocean and the East China Sea.
The spray surging up to the top of the cliffs is truly a sight to behold! On clear days, you can even see Yoron Island in Kagoshima Prefecture.

Yambaru Kuina Ecological Exhibition and
Learning Facility Kuina-no-Mori
The Okinawa rail is a rare species that is difficult to spot even in the World Heritage forest of Yambaru. This facility allows visitors to observe the bird’s behavior up close. The Okinawa rail in the observation booth is extremely curious, taking baths and sometimes coming over to look at the faces of the people watching it. Its charming antics are sure to bring a smile to your face.

Mangrove Canoe Tour
Explore the Gesashi River’s mangrove forest by canoe, where three species of mangrove, namely Ohirugi, Mehirugi, and Yaeyama-hirugi, grow in abundance. While listening to your guide’s explanations, you can observe various creatures living among the mangrove roots up close, including fiddler crabs such as the red beni-shiomaneki and the white hakusen-shiomaneki. You may also encounter small fish like the barred mudskipper, which moves by hopping across the water’s surface, as well as birds like herons and kingfishers that come in search of them.
