Taro Kanko Hotel, damaged in the Great East Japan Earthquake, is an earthquake heritage conveying the dangers of tsunami to the present day. You can visit the destroyed building interior preserved as it was, with the guidance of a learning disaster prevention guide. This is a valuable site where you can witness the height of the tsunami and learn about the events of that time, while deepening your awareness of disaster prevention.

Kitayamazaki Observatory (Sightseeing)

Kitayamazaki Observatory is one of Sanriku’s top scenic spots, featuring dramatic cliffs rising 200 meters.
From the observatory, a dramatic landscape unfolds, with steep cliffs and pine trees forming a striking contrast against the Pacific Ocean, earning it the nickname “Alps of the Sea.”

Sappa Fishing Boat Adventures (Tour/Boarding)

The Sappa Boat Adventures is a marine tour for a small number of participants guided by the fisherman of Tanohata Village. The steep cliffs of Kitayamazaki offer an exhilarating experience, with the spray of waves right at your feet. A precious activity allowing for enjoyment of the Tohoku seas with all five senses.
